The Lonely Christmas Tree by Austin Hight

Once in a field
of many Christmas trees,
Shouting and wishing
Someone pick me.

Some went through the gates,
Others saying "I just can't wait!"

One shouted with glee,
"Won't anyone pick me?"

A family ran toward him
As he smiled with stun.
But when they got to him
he heard someone say "I won!"

Finally someone came to get him
As they took him away.
Then stuck him in a shredder,
And that's how he'll stay.

Boys.... they are pretty funny! He was reading me this just a few minutes ago and I was like, "awww, how sweet" until he got to the end and I just laughed, he's silly just like his dad. And speaking of his dad. I think he looks so much like Dave in this picture, Dave when he was this age. He sure is handsome! Well.. they are both very handsome guys!!!

SNOW DAY!!!

Well today was an official snow day, no school. So the kids decided to build a slushy wet snowman. The twins got sick of the snow way before they were done with him, but had fun getting all wet and cold. Alanah was so excited to tell me that she made a snow angel. If you live here, you know that this is not really the type of snow to do that in, so she froze real quick.

My poor dog got a major hair cut! He was really tangled and they had to shave him. Well I think he still looks cute. This was him watching the kids out the window.

Happy Birthday Girls!

So I thought of just a few questions to quiz the girls on and see what they like at this moment in their lives. I made Alanah leave the room so I could ask Alyssa questions and then when it was Alanah's turn we would see if they had similarities in their answers. Well they are always so giggly and silly that I truly don't know if Alanah was listening to Alyssa's answers or not. They keep saying that they weren't listening to each other, oh wait we were,... no we weren't. all the while as giggly as can be. I never know what is true or not cause they constantly change their answers and try to convince me that what they are saying is true. For example.. just yesterday Alanah tells me "secretly" that a boy kissed her on the cheek. Then Alyssa came in and they were so giggly and they both said "ha ha we tricked you, he didn't kiss her" then seconds later "ha ha we tricked you again.. he really did kiss her." Ohhh my they do that all the time about many things and so I just never know what to believe. They are so much fun, always silly and happy. I love it when they get in moods where they just roll around on the floor hugging and laughing and telling secrets, they are so close and they really love having each other to play with. Well here they are, SEVEN years old and as cute as ever! My babies are getting so big!!!

Alyssa's Favorites
1. Song - Shattered by O.A.R. (Daddy and the girls love to hear this one over and over and over...., they all sing at the top of their lungs! So cute)
2. Snack - Popsicles
3. School lunch - Burritos
4. Thing to do at Recess - Play with friends
5. Movie - Camp Rock
6. What Alyssa wants to do when she grows up - "ooooh that's a hard one....I want to teach school"
7. Vacation spot - Las Vegas!
Alyssa, you are such a cute and silly girl. I love you and hope you have a great day!

Alanah's Favorites
1. Song - Shattered by O.A.R.
2. Snack - Graham crackers
3. School lunch - Burritos
4. Thing to do at recess - walk and talk with friends
5. Movie - High School Musical 2
6. What Alanah wants to do when she grows up - Be an artist
7. Vacation spot - Las Vegas!

Alanah, you are such a sweetie! I love you and hope that your birthday is a great one!

We are excited to announce.....

Nooo, Im not pregnant! But we did add a new member to our family last night. His name is Sandler, after Adam Sandler. Austin thought of it and we liked it. He is a Bichon Frise, and is soooo cute and the perfect dog for us. He is happy and friendly and has only barked a few times. Usually you would research a dog before you buy it, but you know us, we bought him and then bought a book about the breed. The book describes this breed as being very friendly, lovable, loyal, it said that when they meet someone they will remember them even if it is years before they see them again. They also love being the center of attention, with all of the kids, he is definitely getting tons of love and attention.

This is not him, just a photo I found online. But this looks just like him, he is so cute and happy!

Leave it to Baylee and the twins!

Well let me start off by saying that I had so much fun yesterday and last night. Julie had a few moms get together at the park on main street and we played for about 3 hours. The kids were lucky to play and luckier when we found out that there was a small parade, so we stayed and watched that. After that was over, Julie and I decided to go out to dinner at Benja's. That was yummy and relaxing. While we were there Brent went and picked up ALL of my kids and took all 9 (8 girls and 1 boy) to play games at Laser Mania. That was so nice of him to be willing to deal with them all by himself. So they played games and when they were done they got to pick some prizes for the tickets they earned on the games. Well... the girls got a few rub on tattoos along with many other fun things. So to the point... Yeah, um Baylee and Alyssa now have tattoos right on their BUTTS! Oh my, I couldn't believe it when they came to show me. I asked them why they put them on their butts and they said that it was Alanah's idea, she just used hers up before she could stick one on her cheek:). Anyways, some things my kids do makes me wonder?!. They are hilarious!

Kindergarten.. WHEW

Well I have successfully made it through my first full week subbing for a kindergarten teacher who had her baby 5 weeks early! The kids have given me a run for my money so far, but I have to say that this past Friday was definitely a huge improvement from the beginning of the week. There are a couple handful's of kids that are doing everything they can to test their limits. I just had to get mean, and so I think they are getting the picture that they have to treat me like their teacher. I'm sure it won't be easy, but it will get easier and funner as they get to know me as their teacher. They are really cute kids, so I'm excited, and it's fun!

Other than that we are just busy as ever and trying to keep our house clean as we come and go. That is one thing I am going to have to get used to again. When I worked at Star Sign, I would come home at lunch and do my dishes in about 10 minutes and have my kitchen clean before I went back to work. I am gonna have to get fast at that again so my house stays clean all week.

Oh yeah, we got a new car!! A van, finally. We have been without a van since about June, we just walk if we have to (living really close to everything helps a ton). And we were limited on the things we could do as a family. Julie and Brent gave some of us a ride to a few softball games cause we couldn't all fit. So anyways we got an '06 Chrysler Town & Country. It is really nice, I love it! I didn't think I would care about the "stow n' go" , but the more I think about it, it will be so nice when we go on trips to put our luggage in the floor instead of all over the floor. We also bought a overhead DVD player and the kids love that, but it makes the 12 hour drive to my Mom's for thanksgiving sound a whole lot easier. I'm just grateful that we were able to get it, our old neighbor owns a car dealership and we were so lucky to know that we got a good car, that is always something that I am paranoid of, car dealerships. I get scared that we are gonna get taken for fools and end up paying too much for a bad car. But knowing him made us at ease and we ended up with a great family van!!

So I am tired, I have spent all day doing homework. I need to do more during the week instead of saving it all for Sunday when it is due!

Still no camera, so as soon as I get one I'll post pictures of lots of stuff!! ;)

Lots new around here!

So it has been a really long time since I have felt the time and energy to update my blog. We have been pretty busy though with lots of new and exciting things going on.

First - We had an awesome summer! Probably the best we have ever had. It started out with Celise going up to Grandmas with Julie and the girls, I really appreciate you Julie for taking her and making her feel like one of your girls. That was comforting to know she was right at home and she just blended in with you guys! Celise was up north for 3 WEEKS!! I know that is a long time and it felt like forever! But she had so much fun and was able to do a lot of things, all with her best friend, cousin and soul mate, Anneka! She really enjoyed that, we missed her like crazy, but it was a good experience for her.

While she was up north we took the other kids to California and went to the beach. On the way there we stopped in Vegas and went to circus circus. The kids loved it and there were lots of rides for the little girls. Austin was brave and went on the roller coaster and this other ride that hangs you upside down and spins around. He was so mad at me for making him go on it with me, but when we got off he loved it and wanted to go on it again with Dave. That was a fun little trip.

The fourth was a fun day, and fun to be back with Celise on the 5th.

So another fun thing was my parents came to visit us. While they were here we went to the Washington City pool. that was a fun place, the kids loved it. We had a great time just hanging out and visiting for a couple of days. During their visit we had decided that we were going to move back to St. George, so my mom helped me get the house ready to show to people who might want to take over our lease. Well the second people who came to look wanted the house and said that they needed to be out of their place in 2 weeks and asked us if that would work. We of course said yes, and had to hurry and find a place to live. We looked a ton, day and night for a good week and then we finally found a place. It is a big 3600 sqft home with five bedrooms and is right in the area we hoped to be. We are just a couple blocks away from the kids school and being in town is saving us on gas like crazy. The house is really old and the decor is way out-dated, like wall paper on every wall, and seriously at least one huge mirror in every room, some rooms have more. But it is growing on us and we are feeling more at home here every day.

Ok, so we find a house and have to be in it on the 31st of July. but we already have a vacation planned and the three younger girls were going to go up north for their visit with grandma. So we had to have everything packed, and ready to move before we left for our trip. We took an awesome vacation and had to move the day after we got back to town.

OUR VACATION --

We actually planned this one ahead of time, I know that is totally not how we usually do anything, but it was great. So we went to California and stayed in this nice house that my friends mother in law lets us stay in anytime we are in Long Beach. She is so nice to just let us come for free when ever we want! So that always helps with the cost of our trips. We had bought ahead of time tickets to Raging Waters (a water park), Knotts Berry Farm, and a Dodgers game. So the day we got there was about the only day we had to spend some time on the beach. We went and the kids, (just Austin and Celise) played in the ocean until after the sun went down and the beach was pretty bare of people. They had so much fun, we were at Newport Beach and there were some good sized waves. We stayed out that night till about 10pm and went back to the house to get some sleep. The next morning we got up early and made it to San Dimas, to Raging Waters in time to get in line before the park opened. That was really fun. There were tons of slides and fun rides and I think we went on almost all of them. Austin was soooo BRAVE, you know those water slides that just go straight down?? Yeah, well we decide to go on that one and Celise was way nervous the whole way up, but we just tried to hype it up and tell her that it was gonna be so much fun. Well we get to the top, Dave goes first, then Austin (wow that was crazy for him) and then I look over at Celise and she is just bawling, I asked her if she wanted to try it and go first or me first? She just wanted off! So we walked off. I was actually kinda releived, I was scared too! Anyways we had to leave by 4 so we could get to the Dodgers game in time. So we get in the car, we all had to change into different clothes as we were driving and head to Dodgers Stadium.

Seriously out of all the fun things we did, the Dodgers game topped them all. It was so fun, the atmosphere was great and fun. The kids loved it! We loved it! We loved it so much that we went back for another game the next night. So sad though, I didn't take my camera to Raging waters or the beach, so I wanted to make sure that I got a lot of pictures at the game, well before the game even started my camera broke. It is dead!! I am so sad, but I guess I will just have to get a new one :) (somehow!!). So yeah I didn't get any pictures, but they took our picture and put it on thier fan website at the game. Click HERE and HERE to see the pics.

So the day after Raging Waters and that first Dodgers game we went to Knotts Berry Farm. It was really a fun amusement park. We went on lots of rides and really just had a blast. But the most memorable part of that day will always be when we were about to get on a ride and we started to feel the ground shake, yeah um the ground was moving really weird like we were on a platform and someone was moving it back and forth. It was an EARTHQUAKE, we were so stunned and didn't know what was going on, was it a ride above us shaking the ground or what?? Well it lasted for a good 30 seconds and then we started to hear people around us saying that it was an earthquake. Wow that was cool to experience. When we lived in Paradise as kids I remember feeling little earthquakes that just kinda rattled the walls for like a second, but nothing like this, I mean you could actually see the ground moving, it was so bizarre.
They closed the rides down for about an hour to make sure they were all safe, and so we just went to lunch at that time and when we were done with lunch the rides were back up and running. It was a fun place, and not really that expensive either. So we were off to another Dodgers game which was of corse fun and they even won this game which made it even better. WHEW..... ok so we were back to the house to sleep and then in the morning we went to the beach (I think, cant quite remember) one more time and then headed home. We got home around 9pm and had to be up at 8am to get everything moved out, and cleaned so the new people could move in that evening. Yeah it was way jam packed, but very worth it.

I have also been doing school this whole time. If you didn't know, I am now in my second term of my Master's Degree in Elementary Education. I started my first term at the beginning of the summer, and did OK, I had two classes and got B's in both of them. Now I'm just starting my second term, and I love it. I like that I am really interested in all that I am learning, and when I am done in about 1 1/2 to 2 years, I will be a well qualified teacher!!! So with all that is going on, and all the writing that I have to do for school, I have just been putting off updating my Blog. But I think I have covered everything, well the major stuff at least. Hope I didn't bore anyone with this ginormous post :) !

5th of July

The baseball game we went to on the fourth was a "bounce back" night and they announced that they were gonna do fireworks the next night at the game. So we went to another baseball game on Saturday, it was a fun activity for Celise's first night back home. Celise and Austin got to participate in the WheelBarrel race in between innings. That was cute and fun to watch. So after the game they did a fireworks show that was so amazing! Baylee was a little nervous and I kept telling her "this is the grand finale, it will be over soon". Well it wasn't and it kept going and going and then came the real grand finale, it was spectacular!!! Baylee couldn't handle it, it was so crazy, she screamed and cried and would not take her head out of my armpit. I was in awe and forgot to get out my camera, but it was a good show.
After the game, which took forever, we got home around midnight and did some sparklers. The kids had fun making shapes as I took pictures of them.
Here are a few pictures of the game and the sparklers.

Celise trying to make her name with a sparkler. That was harder than we thought it would be.

Baylee was really good at this.

Funny girls!

I was sitting in the bleachers and saw the girls doing their "secret handshake"

Such cuties!

Fourth of July fun!

Wow I havn't posted in a while and feel like there are so many things that I should have posted to preserve those memories, but I am just gonna pick up where we are and go from there.

So the fourth was a really fun day, we started with a fun breakfast at Denny's (a late breakfast at around 10am). While we were there we could see lots of people trying to get a stuffed animal thing out of the vending machine. So we were sitting there eating and this guy comes up to us and asked the kids if they wanted the "firecracker" stuffed toy that he had finally got out of the machine. That was fun, and the kids looked cute all dressed in patriotic outfits, people kept coming up to us and complimenting the kids on how patriotic they all looked. So after breakfast we went to the Vernon Worthen park to play some games. That was fun, but hot so we didn't stay very long there. We didn't want to go back and forth to Ivins, so we just tried to find things to keep us busy in St. George. We went to Barnes & Noble and read and listened to the music players on the wall for about an hour before we went to see Wall-e. We were about 40 min. early for the movie and like the third family in line. Holy moly, that was crazy. The line eventually made it's way out the back door and the movie was like 15 min. late to start. It was a cute show, the kids liked it and it took up a lot of our time trying to occupy ourselves in town before the fireworks. Soo.... from there we thought we would go to Hurricane to watch a softball game and just stay there for the fireworks. We took the kids to Hurricane Elementary to play for a while to take up some time, and after about 5 min of playing Alyssa got stung by a wasp. So we left there and went to have a late lunch at Ted & Allens grill in Hurricane. That was fun and while we were there we decided to go to a Roadrunners (semi-pro baseball team in St. George) game. So we did that and saw our friend Janille and her husband Mike and their cute girls and watched the game together. Ahhhhh.... yeah Im exhausted typing this all out.. So then we went to the College football stadium and watched the fireworks. Whew that was a busy day, but lots of fun!

Here are a bunch of pics from our day, I tried to keep them in order but didn't happen.

Alyssa and Alanah happy to see Janille and her girls!

Who needs cheerleaders to get the crowd going when you have these three.

cute friend!

Alyssa didn't take long to recover from her wasp sting! thank goodness

Swimming.....Finally!

This is the first time we have gone swimming this summer, I know, pretty sad. But the city pool is so dang cheap I'm sure we will go a lot this summer. I dont work on fridays so I took advantage of that and the kids appreciated it Im sure.

Celise went up north with Julie, Im kinda sad that I wont see her for 3 weeks, but I know she will have a blast. Right before she left at about 7am I decided that it would be easiest for her and everyone if her hair wasnt so long. So I asked her if she wanted me to cut it and she said O.K. Well we had talked about it a few times before and one of the major deciding factors for her to cut her hair was that she would donate it to "locks of love" so I knew that you had to donate at least 10inches so I put her hair in a pony and pulled it down to where I thought it would be enough. Well another request of Celise's was that she could still put it in a pony tail. Oh my, as soon as I started cutting I knew that it was gonna be way shorter than she would want it, and she could tell also and she started bawling and I cried a little. I was so sad, but I couldn't fix what I had done and so I just had to keep going. Anyway, it turned out ok, but Im no professional and she was upset for a while. But... she is now spending all this time with Anneka so Im sure that fixed the initial pain of it all.

I love the way the water sparkles in this shot, the girls are cute too

Alyssa is such a nut, they all are. Oh my goodness I can never get a decent shot of them while they are looking. they always want to be silly. So she is modeling her noodles

Believe it or not, they are posing here. they were on a modeling kick today. It was hillarious.

Another sparkley water, oh yeah and the Models.

Such a cutie!

These two sure got along good for PART of the day :)
