Keeping Up

Well it is already almost two weeks into the new year and I can't believe it. The last month has gone by soo fast! So far I have been able to keep up with my goals of having a clean happy home ( hope I'm not jinxing myself here :) ) I have been consistently, not perfectly, but consistently following the flylady.net strategies for keeping a clean home. I really love it. I did it a couple of years ago for about 2 months, but I really want it to be a life change. If you haven't heard of it you might want to check out the site it is http://www.flylady.net/ and the main idea that you start with is keeping your kitchen sink clean and shiny, and also my favorite, only working on something for 15min at a time. And even only having to clean for 15min per day. For me it just lays things out and helps me to focus on one thing rather than getting sidetracked all day long, working my butt of and only accomplishing little things here and there. Gosh I hate that because it is tiring and I never feel like I get anything looking as clean as I am exhausted. I don't know if that makes any sense at all, but all I can say it that the FlyLady helps my chaotic approach to things.

Oh the funnest thing I have been doing lately is this idea I got from the flylady website. We have a "House Fairy" I found this http://www.housefairy.org/ and it is kinda corny but the kids are totally going for it. She is like the tooth fairy or Santa Claus, but she checks their rooms and then randomly comes while they are sleeping and leaves a gift along with a note and some fairy dust if their rooms are clean. It really is amazing, Celise knows that it is just me, but she totally goes along with it and her and Austin cleaned their room spotless, I mean under the beds, in the closets, organized their drawers and desk. I was shocked that what I had been asking them to do for weeks only took an hour once they knew that the "house fairy" was coming.

All of this just makes for a happier home and a happier mommy. I really am trying to focus on being pleasant and playful with them. I get scared sometimes that if I am always pushing them to play outside or go and leave me alone cause I'm tired and too exhausted to just sit down and play a game, they will be all grown up when I finally want to play a game and they wont want to have anything to do with me. So having my home clean is from now on a requirement and having time to play with my kids is also a priority and a requirement. I want them to want me close and around when they are growing up, so I must :) have a lighter attitude now!!The girls have been making their beds!!! So nice!!
